The American Australian Association and its Business Council, is the preeminent organization for business and government. The United States President, Australian Prime Ministers, Government officials on both sides of the Pacific and the Chief Executives of leading companies in the United States and Australia are amongst the many individuals hosted on one or more occasion.  For 75 years, the AAA has strengthened the business and innovation relationship between Australia and the United States by promoting dialogue, cooperation, economic growth and cultural understanding. The AAA is dedicated to providing high level policy discussions and business focused events that nurture the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit that resides in our human capital. From infrastructure to outer space, AAA members have the opportunity to engage with each other and industry leaders on a wide range of issues affecting the wider American-Australian relationship.

American Australian Association Business Council

The Business Council is made up of members from a diverse range of industries with operations across Australia and the United States. Our members represent the breadth and depth of the robust economic relationship that exists between these two nations and contribute to the US$1 trillion economic partnership.

The Business Council was formed to highlight American and Australian businesses and their leaders, serving as a resource for building and strengthening economic relationships, whether it be among the business community or with key governmental decision makers in the United States and Australia. The Business Council aims to foster active dialogue, encourage innovation, improve trade and support growth on both sides of the Pacific.

Business Council Co-Chairs

Jennifer Nason

Global Chairman, Investment Banking
J.P. MORGAN

      Ms. Nason has been with J.P. Morgan for nearly 36 years having joined the Melbourne, Australia office in 1986. Over the span of her career at the firm, she has worked in the Project Finance and Mergers & Acquisition groups focused on the Natural Resources sector; the Retail Investment Banking client coverage team as Group Head; and for the last 19 years, led the Technology, Media and Telecommunications global client practice, with a focus on strategic M&A, debt and equity financing. Ms. Nason also co-founded and chaired the Investment Banking Women’s Network at J.P. Morgan in the mid-1990s.Today as a Global Chairman of the Investment Banking practice, Ms. Nason sits on the Executive Committee of Global Chairs of Investment Banking and is responsible for many of the firm’s key investment banking relationships around the world. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Ms. Nason spent three years with the Department of Management and Budget in Australia as an infrastructure project analyst, where she worked on the development of several high profile projects, including the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne. Ms. Nason currently serves as a director of Rio Tinto and the American Australian Association, having previously been its Chairman. Ms. Nason is a member of the Partnership for New York City Innovation Council. Ms. Nason has a double degree, B.A. and B. Com with honors in Economics, from the University of Melbourne in Australia. She lives in New York with her four children.

Lachlan Murdoch

      Lachlan Murdoch is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Corporation (FOX), which is among the most recognized and influential media companies in the world. In this role, he oversees the Company’s premier portfolio of news, sports and entertainment assets. Mr. Murdoch was instrumental in the spinoff of FOX by 21st Century Fox and the establishment of FOX as a standalone public company.

Mr. Murdoch has spent the past two decades building, operating and investing in many of the world’s most prominent television and publishing businesses. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of News Corp and Executive Chairman of NOVA Entertainment, an Australian media company. Mr. Murdoch previously served as Non-Executive Chairman of Ten Network Holdings.

Prior to the formation of FOX in March 2019, Mr. Murdoch served as Executive Chairman of 21st Century Fox.  He began that role in 2015, working directly with the company’s senior management and Board of Directors to develop global strategies and set the overall corporate vision. Mr. Murdoch served as a member of the 21st Century Fox Board of Directors from 1996 – March 2019.
