Members and friends of the American Australian Association, New England, together with New England Kiwis, gathered to commemorate ANZAC Day in Boston on Saturday, April 27 at the Church of The Advent on Beacon Hill.
The solemn and traditional service of hymns, prayers and readings was followed by a lively reception with delicious Australian and New Zealand refreshments. More than 100 were in attendance. We would like to extend special thanks to William Taylor, New Zealand’s Honorary Consul to the New England States, for his exceptional organizational skills and fostering of the expatriate community in Boston. Highlights of the program included the keynote address by Colonel Angela Fitzsimons of the New Zealand Defence Force; and readings by Group Captain Jason Baldock of the Royal Australian Air Force and Turkish Consul General in Boston, Murat Uğurluoğlu. An acknowledgement must also be given to the family of Rev. Dr. Jeffrey A. Hanson, who made the extensive quantity of pies and sausage rolls that were enjoyed by all.
