Sophie Smyth (she/her) is a neurodivergent singer, actor, writer, and (sometimes) dancer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) from Federation University’s Arts Academy. Career highlights/awards include: Australians in Film’s inaugural UNTAPPED Development Lab; Green Room Award for Best Writing (for The Aspie Hour); Australian Writer’s Guild’s Monte Miller Award runner-up (for Unloveable); Lesley Hall Scholarship.

Sophie creates disarmingly vulnerable autobiographical work that balances precariously on the twisted knife-edge of comedy and tragedy. She is passionate about authentic representation, the Oxford comma, and making you laugh.

Rep: Mollison Keightley Management.

This award affords Sophie the opportunity to study the craft of television writing through panel discussions, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring with industry professionals at the CineStory Foundation Writers Retreat in Idyllwild, California. Post-retreat, she will take up residency at ‘Charlie’s’ in West Hollywood — home to Australians’ in Film — with a focus on her half-hour comedy drama “Unloveable”.
