2026 Winter Internship Program
INTERN
(Part-Time – New York)
The American Australian Association, a prestigious non-profit organization with new headquarters in New York City, is seeking a motivated 2-3 Interns to support its growing events and programming portfolio. This is a paid, part-time internship at $17 per hour, ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in event operations within an international nonprofit environment.
No prior experience is required. An Australian connection or interest in the Australia–U.S. relationship is strongly preferred.
The intern will work primarily on event-related activities, including event setup, logistics, catering coordination, project planning, and engagement with high-profile Australian and American business, government, and community leaders.
This position reports to the SVP of Operations and Programming and requires the ability to work collaboratively within a small, fast-paced team across New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Australia.
We are looking for a 4-6 month commitment.
Internships can commence as early as January 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EVENT OPERATIONS & LOGISTICS
- Assist with the planning, setup, and execution of events, including receptions, panels, and member gatherings
- Support catering orders, vendor coordination, and on-site event logistics
- Help prepare event materials, guest lists, seating plans, and run-of-show documents
PROJECT SUPPORT
- Assist with event timelines, task tracking, and administrative coordination
- Support internal planning meetings and follow-up tasks
- Adapt to evolving responsibilities based on the needs of the Association
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Professionally engage with members, guests, and partners, including senior Australian business and political leaders
- Assist with guest check-in and on-site hosting duties
GENERAL SUPPORT
- Provide day-to-day operational support to the events and programming team
- Assist across multiple work streams as needed in a collaborative office environment
- Specific duties will be outlined at the start of the internship and may evolve over time based on organizational priorities.

- Interested in events, nonprofit work, international relations, or community engagement
- Able to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
- No prior events experience is required training will be provided.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- Pay: $17 per hour
- Schedule: Part-time, guaranteed 30 hours/week. Hours will include evenings for events
