Andrew N. Liveris AO is a globally recognised business leader whose five-decade career spans the industrial, energy and manufacturing sectors. Born in Darwin, Australia, and a First Class Honours graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland, he joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1976 and rose through manufacturing, engineering, sales and business leadership roles in Asia-Pacific and North America. He was appointed CEO in 2004 and Chairman in 2006, leading Dow through a major transformation that included the US$19 billion acquisition of Rohm and Haas and the creation of Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture with Saudi Aramco.
Mr Liveris has advised three U.S. Presidents on manufacturing and industrial policy and has served Australian governments in senior advisory capacities on energy, infrastructure and industry. He is the author of Make It in America, a widely cited blueprint for revitalising domestic manufacturing.
He currently serves on the Boards of IBM, Saudi Aramco and Worley Ltd (Deputy Chair), among others, and is President of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee. He is a past Honoree of the American Australian Association in recognition of his leadership and enduring contribution to the U.S.–Australia partnership.
