This year the American Australian Association Arts Awards Dinner was dedicated to supporting relief efforts for the severe bushfires that have affected communities and towns across Australia. Over 400 guests generously supported this event hosted at Skylight Modern, New York. Funds raised on the night will help support the Australian Red Cross’ Fire Response, through the AAA’s Australian Bushfire Relief Fund. Our thanks to National Australia Bank who have presented the Arts Awards Dinner for three consecutive years, in partnership with the Pratt Foundation, News Corp and Bird in Hand. The Dinner recognizes the outstanding contributions made by Australians who have advanced the friendship between our great countries through the Arts.
The prestigious Excellence in the Arts Award presentations were a highlight of the night. Former honoree Naomi Watts presented singer, songwriter and actor Kylie Minogue and Michael Maher presented novelist Peter Carey with their award for exemplary contribution to the Arts. Editor in Chief of InStyle Magazine Laura Brown emceed the event and Zendaya presented the “Rising Star” award to actor Jacob Elordi.
AAA Arts Fund Alumni Mi-kaisha, Evan Harris, Rachel Siu and Courtenay Cleary took to the stage to perform “Tell Me Why” written by Mi-kaisha and arranged by Ben Heim to an enthusiastic audience which included Deborra-Lee Furness, Katie Holmes, Jake Shears, Victoria Lee, Bridget Malcolm, Anne V., Charlee Fraser, Christine Centenera, Jordan Barrett, Meghan Roche, and anthem performer George Maple.
