Scholar Spotlight: Maureen Walczak

Meet Maureen (Mo) Walczak: Paleoceanographer, Assistant Professor at Oregon State University, and 2018 AAA-Sir Keith Murdoch Scholar.

As part of her post-doctoral research, Maureen spent time with the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) collecting sediment samples in the Gulf of Alaska. This data was the basis of a major study that Maureen and her collaborators published in the academic journal, Science.

Maureen was recently awarded the Kirk Bryan Award by the Geological Society of America, which recognizes author of a publication that is shifting a paradigm and transforming a field. Read the full study in Science here.
