The relationship between Australia and the United States is unique in its breadth, depth and length, and characterized by genuine cultural affinity and a robust framework of bilateral cooperation. In 2018, Australia and the United States marked a centenary of mateship – a friendship first formed in the trenches of World War I during the Battle of Hamel on July 4, 1918. Join us as we celebrate over 100 years of Mateship on the golf course at the 3rd Annual Mateship Charity Golf Tournament.
AAA Veterans’ Fund
Australia is the only country to have fought side by side with the United States in every major military conflict since WWI, the only ally whose generals command US forces in the field, and which is fully integrated with US military and intelligence operations.
In recognition of the depth and strength of this 100 year alliance, the Association launched a Veterans’ Fund. Honorably discharged Australian and American veterans will have the opportunity to study abroad and experience first-hand the culture and society of each others’ country.
The program will enable eligible veterans to enroll in an accredited course of one year’s duration or longer that leads to the award of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at a tertiary institution.
The Association will partner with veterans’ support organizations of both sides of the Pacific to assist with outreach, review, and selection of award recipients, as well as to provide mentorship to awarded veterans.
The program was launched from proceeds raised at the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea Commemorative Dinner on May 4th and forms a new pillar in the Association’s Education Fund.
