Meet Shamindra Shrotriya, a researcher and PhD candidate in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) – he is also the inaugural AAA-NGC Wildfire Research Scholar.
Shamindra is collaborating with Dr. Nic Dalmasso and Prof. Alex Reinhart to research predictive inference of wildfire risk in the U.S. Their goal is to create a statistical model for predicting wildfire origin, duration, and area burned with associated predictive uncertainty.
”The best thing about being a statistician is that you get to play in everyone’s backyard.” – John Tukey
