President Steven Marshall Appointed AO

Steven Marshall has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to the people and Parliament of South Australia, to business, to  people with disability, and to governance and board positions.

Mr Marshall served as Premier of South Australia from 2018 to 2022 and currently serves as President of  the American Australian Association, based in New York, where he works to advance the Australia– United States alliance across business, defence, technology, education, and philanthropy.

Statement from Marshall

“I’m genuinely honoured, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to serve. Public service is never a solo endeavour. This recognition belongs equally to the many dedicated colleagues, public servants, community leaders, and volunteers I have had the privilege to work alongside.”

“I am particularly proud of the work undertaken to strengthen South Australia’s economy, create jobs, and position the state for long-term growth and resilience. In my current role, I remain focused on deepening the Australia–US partnership at a time when strong alliances matter more than ever.”

“I am thankful for the support of my family, friends, and colleagues in Australia and the United States, and I remain committed to contributing to Australia’s future in whatever way I can.”
