AAA Scholarship Opportunities: APPLY NOW

American Australian Association (AAA) scholarships and grants provide support to the next generation of American, Native American, Australian and Indigenous Australian individuals to undertake transformational educational study, research and artistic development in each other’s country. Since 2002, the AAA has awarded over 900 Graduate, Veteran and Art scholarships and grants worth over US $12.5 million.

Applications will open February 1 for: Graduate Education Scholarships (AUS to USA), Veteran Education Scholarships (AUS to USA) and Arts Scholarships and Grants (both directions).

GRADUATE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS:

The AAA Education Fund will provide support of up to US $40,000 to Australians undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) at an accredited educational institution in the US for a minimum of one-year.

VETERANS’ SCHOLARSHIPS

The AAA Veterans’ Fund will provide support of up to US $40,000 to honorably discharged post-9/11 Australian military veterans, undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Undergraduate or Graduate level study at an accredited educational institution in the US for a minimum of one-year.

ARTS FUND SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

The AAA Arts Fund will provide support to American and Australian emerging or early career artists pursuing or wishing to pursue artistic development in each other’s country. These scholarships and grants support artists in the fields of theatre, film, television, dance, music, visual arts, design, literature, photography and fashion.

  • Arts Grants (Round 1): Support American and Australian artists with grants up to US $5,000 to pursue artistic development in the country of the other.
  • AAA-AFNGA AusArt Scholarship: Offers support of up to US $30,000 to one Australian Master of Arts or Graduate student  in the field of fine arts, art history/theory, curatorial studies, arts administration or conservation studies, to pursue 1-year of study or research in the US.
  • Indigenous Arts Scholarships: Offers support of up to US $20,000 to assist an Indigenous Australian and Torres Strait Islander artists, and Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian artists wishing to pursue artistic development in the country of the other.
  • AAA – Australian International Screen Forum Scholarship (AISF): Offers support of up to US $10,000 to an up-and-coming Australian director wishing to pursue professional development in the United States for up to 3-months. To read more about the application dates, eligibility and to apply online, visit the AISF website.

WHO CAN APPLY:

Eligibility requirements vary depending on the scholarship or grant. The general eligibility is listed below:

  • All AUS to USA applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident (dual citizens or permanent residents of both USA and AUS are not eligible);
  • Applicants must have a formal letter of offer into the accredited institution, program or course, in the country of the other, at the time of application (unless applying for a Veteran Scholarship or the Indigenous Education Scholarships);
  • If applying for any Indigenous Scholarship, applicants must be a recognized member of an Indigenous Australian, Torres Strait Islander, Native American, Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian community.

Scholarship funds may be used to support travel, living, tuition or other associated educational costs.
